Summary about the video "Teens and Tech" Paula Betancurth

This conference is very interesting because it talks about a topic that is part of our daily lives and that we present all around us, and it is Technology.

As an introduction, the speaker defines us in his own words What is technology. He says that technology is extensions of our humanity. Tech is a reflection of us related to social connections and social media. He also tell us that "Technology isn't just the device it is the physical manifestation of it, technology is bassically everything surrounding us."

The presenter constantly refers to the fact that the way we humans use technology determines if the usage is either appropriate or inappropriate.

Another important point that is in the video is What is tech doing to us? The presenter point 4 negative things: Technology disrupts development, distracting our mental skills and abilities, desintegrating our relationships and depriving our feelings.

Now we inhibit real relationships, human connection, because we prioritize our  phones over the people right in front of us. Nowadays population is more vulnerable to use and create a dependence on electronic devices such as smartphones and video games, making them to live a virtual life and losing the personal contact with people in real time.

Face to face interaction is a must, but the idea is not talk about tech, the goal is to talk about each other. Parents should not be afraid of technology instead they must be responsible for regulating and supervising children when they use technology.

Psychologist suggests stimulating the face to face interaction in order to increase the love, patience, understanding and union in families.
